Car Wash Greeter Training Checklist
The checklist (4 items)
Written as observable actions, so two trainers scoring the same shift land in the same place. In CrewSharp this is the Pay Station / Greeter station in the Car wash / Quick auto starter set, filed under Lot, and every item here is editable.
- 1Greeted every car and offered the right package
- 2Entered the correct package and paymentMust pass
- 3Explained the membership clearly when asked
- 4Kept the entry lane moving
Print it, score it on a clipboard, or open it in Sheets. No email required.
What usually goes wrong
Entering the correct package is the required item and it fails downstream rather than here. A wrong package entered at the pay station becomes an argument at the exit, with a customer who is already annoyed and a crew who cannot fix it.
When to sign someone off
A workable bar for this station: no critical items missed, a score above a line you set for Pay Station / Greeter specifically rather than one number for the whole building, and observed on more than one shift with at least one of them busy. Then date it, so it can expire.
That last part is the one people skip. A sign-off with no date cannot be re-checked, which means a year later you have a record that says somebody was ready once.
Other car wash / quick auto checklists
The rest of the set, if you are building out the whole floor rather than one position.
Common questions
How do you train upselling without slowing the lane?
By making the recommendation part of the greeting rather than a step after it. The lane slows when the offer is a separate conversation; it does not when the package suggestion is how the greeting is worded.
What should be on a car wash greeter checklist?
The 4 items above cover it: greeted every car and offered the right package, entered the correct package and payment, explained the membership clearly when asked, and the rest of the list. Keep it in that range. Fewer and a pass proves very little; many more and trainers stop finishing it during a real shift.
Does this station need critical items?
Not every station has one. Where nothing on the list carries a safety or legal consequence, a passing score plus observation across more than one shift is a reasonable bar on its own. Marking items critical when they are not just makes the flag mean less everywhere else.
Scoring it is the part that lasts
Run this Pay Station / Greeter checklist on a tablet between rushes and CrewSharp keeps the rest: who is signed off, when it was last checked, and which item your crew misses most.
