Pet Care Check-In Checklist

Handovers at both ends of the day are where the safety information either enters the building or does not. Confirming vaccinations, noting feeding, medication and behaviour instructions, releasing only to an authorised person, and giving owners a real update.

The checklist (5 items)

Written as observable actions, so two trainers scoring the same shift land in the same place. In CrewSharp this is the Check-in / Pickup station in the Pet care / Daycare starter set, filed under Lobby, and every item here is editable.

  1. 1Confirmed vaccination records before accepting an animalCritical
  2. 2Noted feeding, medication and behavior instructionsMust pass
  3. 3Released animals only to an authorized personCritical
  4. 4Gave owners a real update on the day
  5. 5Kept the lobby calm and controlled during handovers

Print it, score it on a clipboard, or open it in Sheets. No email required.

What usually goes wrong

Two critical items, and both are refusals. Turning away an animal without current vaccinations and declining to release to someone not on the list are the moments this station exists for, and both are socially uncomfortable.

The items a good total should not outweigh

  • Confirmed vaccination records before accepting an animal
  • Released animals only to an authorized person

When to sign someone off

A workable bar for this station: no critical items missed, a score above a line you set for Check-in / Pickup specifically rather than one number for the whole building, and observed on more than one shift with at least one of them busy. Then date it, so it can expire.

That last part is the one people skip. A sign-off with no date cannot be re-checked, which means a year later you have a record that says somebody was ready once.

Other pet care / daycare checklists

The rest of the set, if you are building out the whole floor rather than one position.

Common questions

What is the most important check-in item?

Vaccination confirmation, because the consequence is shared by every other animal in the building. It is the one item where an exception made for a good customer is a risk taken on behalf of everybody else's pet.

What should be on a pet care check-in checklist?

The 5 items above cover it: confirmed vaccination records before accepting an animal, noted feeding, medication and behavior instructions, released animals only to an authorized person, and the rest of the list. Keep it in that range. Fewer and a pass proves very little; many more and trainers stop finishing it during a real shift.

Which items should count as critical?

On this station, 2 items are marked critical: confirmed vaccination records before accepting an animal; released animals only to an authorized person. Missing one means not ready, regardless of the total score, because these are the failures that cannot be corrected after the fact.
